Anatolian Shepherd Dog...

The Anatolian Shepherd Dog originated from Turkey and are members of the Mastiff family, they were once known as the Anatolian Karabash, but unlike other herding breeds they were used more for guarding, their nomadic masters made them live outdoors in the extremes of temperatures and their duties were to defend against predators. In both Turkey and Australia it has been found that this dog works well with goats and sheep. The Anatolian Shepherd Dog is steady & bold without aggression, naturally independent, very intelligent & tractable. It is proud & confident. The breed generally gets on well with other animals provided it has been introduced to them when young.

Although the Anatolian Shepherd Dog is a heavy shedder, grooming is surprisingly minimal. His coat will need to be brushed on a weekly basis, although this will need to be more frequent at times of heavier shedding. The rest of the year, this breed's coat needs little attention. He can shed heavily on a seasonal basis.
