The Brittany Spaniel or Brittany is a compact, closely knit dog of medium size, and leggy in appearance. They are strong, vigorous, energetic and have quick movement. Brittany Spaniels are loyal, obedient, friendly, highly intelligent, active. They are very energetic and love to do a job. They are very apt to pleasing their owners, and enjoy a good run. They are good-natured, lively and trainable and tend to be very obedient and love the outdoors. The Brittany Spaniel is a gentle and easily trainable dog, thus good with children. Although they are extremely obedient, they are also independently minded.
The Brittany Spaniel is a light shedder with a medium-length, flat coat. They are extremely low maintenance, requiring a general grooming twice a month and a full grooming every 10 to 12 weeks. Regular brushing of the coat is all that is needed to keep it in good condition. Bathe or dry shampoo when necessary. There are also some hotspots on the dog where dirt, parasites and bacteria collects and needs to be removed on almost a daily basis.
