Ibizan Hound...

For many years, the Ibizan Hound was breed considered to be one of the ancient dog breeds. The breed is believed to have originated in Muslim Spain and was used to hunt rabbits and other small game on the Balearic Island of Ibiza. The Ibizan Hound is a fast dog that can hunt on all types of terrain, working by sight, sound, and scent. Ibizan Hounds are very intelligent, active, and engaging by nature. They are true "clowns" of the dog world, delighting in entertaining their people with their antics. They are sensitive hounds, and very good around children and other dogs alike.

The Ibizan Hound has short-haired, longhaired, and rough-haired varieties. The most usual is the short-haired; the long-haired is very rare. The rough-haired has a longer coat of rough hair that is softer textured than the other two varieties. The shine on the coat of the smooth-haired can be kept in good condition by occasionally running a rubber glove over it. The wire-haired do not need hand-plucking. All can be groomed by an occasional brushing. The nails should be clipped regularly, and the ears checked to make sure that they're clean.
